DISCIPLINARY RULES FOR THE STUDENTS:
These rules are by no means exhaustive. They must be amended modified or annulled as and when the management feels it necessary for the smooth and effective functioning of the school. Ignorance of these rules is not an excuse for its breach
- The School Student’s handbook is an essential part of their outfit. Therefore it should be brought to the school on all working days. If it is multilated or lost it has to be replace immediately.
- All students must attend school with their lessons well prepared.
- They shall be obedient and respectful to the teachers and conform strictly to the rules, regulations and traditions of the school.
- All should be present for the assembly and maintain perfect order.
- During prayer and National Anthem students shall keep absolute silence and maintain a reverential posture. They shall also keep silence and decorum in the classroom, library, office and the corridors. Disorderly conduct like shouting, whistling, hooting in the school premises must be avoided.
- All should take honest pride in keeping the school premises clean. No bits of paper or waste materials shall be thrown in and around. Be cautious not to litter the class rooms and the campus.
- Students must speak English in the school.
- Students shall consider cleanliness.
- Students attending the school should wear the prescribed uniform, washed and pressed, shoes well cleaned and polish, nail paired and trimmed and neatly arranged. They shall also wear the prescribed badges, belt, etc. Habitual slovenliness will not be tolerated and they may be punished even with exclusion from the class.
- In case Students damage any property of the school by the accident or otherwise they will make good the loss. Writing on the walls and furniture and disfiguring them are offences which will be punished with fines. Anyone who notice something damage should report the matters to the teacher or principal.
- Exemption from P.T. or games will be given only on production of a medical certificate.
- To avoid accidents and injuries to Oneself and others, no students shall bring razor blades, sharp instruments, explosive and the like into the school.
- The name, class and section of the students should be clearly written on his/her belongings.
- A person is judge by his/her manners. Every Student’s therefore shall always greet his/her teachers and elders warmly wherever they meet them, in school or outside.
- All students shall cheerfully obey their parents and teachers giving them due respect and regard and shall accept their guidance and corrections with gratitude. Challenging the authority of the principal or teacher will be considered breach of conduct.
- Besides the text books and the library books, no other books newspaper, magazines, comics etc. are to be brought to the school without to the permission of the principal.
- The principal has the right to control all correspondence which comes to the students in the school.
- Calling names and using abusive languages are grave offences. Similarly smoking and using intoxicants are absolutely forbidden and will be severely punished.
- Students who is an opinion of the school authorities repeatedly violate school discipline or whose conduct is not in keeping with the moral tone of the school or engage in anti-school activities or whose activities are detrimental to the objectives of the De Paul School are liable to be expelled. Parents will be informed before such action is taken.
- All students are to attend school on the re-opening day after the summer vacation, the Puja vacation and the Christmas holidays. Every absentee will have to pay a fine of Rs.25/-for the re-opening day and Rs.10/- for every subsequent day including Saturday’s and Sundays. No excuse will be entertained.
- All students are to be present for the official function like independence day, Republic day, Teacher’s day, Children’s day, annual day etc. Absence will be punishable with a fine of Rs.25/-per day.
- Late coming is not encouraged and is permitted only on rare occasions. On such Occasions it will be entered in the student handbook and will be fine accordingly. Late fine for class-V to XII is Rs.10/- per day and for the lower classes Rs.5/-per day. However, if the students only reach after the roll call, attendance will be registered. Those who are often late to school may be asked to return home.
- The name of those students who absent themselves without leave for three consecutive days will be struck off the roles and re-admission is left to the discretion of the principal. The leave application is to be submitted within three days.
- Students should not join in any political or communal organisation and cannot take part in political and communal activities. They should also absolutely abstain from all activities that are detrimental to the unity and integrity of the nation.
- Students are not allowed to drive any motor vehicle in the school premises.
- Every Student must look after his/her belonging. It is not advisable for any student to large amount of money or other valuable articles with him/her. Ornaments or jewellery of any kinds are not allowed in the school. The school authorities will not be responsible for money and things lost.
- Students are not allowed to visit visitors in the school without the permission of the principal.
- If a student wishes to represent any other institution/body/club etc. at any function, or wish to participate in any tournament/match etc. he/she must get prior permission from the principal.
- Permission for the following also must be Obtain from the principal.
- To make collections.
- To organise picnics, parties and meetings.
- To leave the school premises during school hours.
- To give present to the members of the staff or to hold meeting in their honour.
- To organise and conduct matches, debates, competitions and the like.
- Students are strictly forbidden to bring mobile phones and other electronic gadgets will be fine from them.
- Students should maintain absolute silence on corridors and staircases.
- Forging signature of the parents or teachers, altering marks etc. will be taken seriously.
- No gift/donation to the teachers is allowed.
- No students shall leave the school premises during school hours without the prior permission of the principal.
- Students are not permitted to enter any class room other than the own, unless accompanied or permitted by a teacher.
- Unless notified by everyone should vacate the class rooms during recess.
- During the absent of the teachers, the class-leader will be responsible for the order and the discipline of the class.
- Unconventional and long hair styles are strictly prohibited.
- Fancy and sporty watches are not permissible for the students.
- Students shall arrive in school at least 10mins before the assembly. The school gate will be closed after the first bell.
A WORD TO PARENTS.
Remember that education begins at home. A joint effort by the school and the parents help alone to reach the desire goal of all round development of your children. We request you to go through the following guidelines and abide by them.
- Please provide basic amenities at home and create an atmosphere conducive to study.
- Please inculcate in your wards from childhood itself love for order and punctuality, sense of cleanliness, spirit of discipline, hard work good behaviour and self- reliance.
- Please see that your child comes to school punctually.
- Students returning to school after contracting a contagious disease should produce a medical certificate to the effect that they are free from infection failing which the child may be obliged to return home during class hours.
- Please check the note book and student’s handbook of your children regularly and take care that the lessons and homework assigned to them for the following day are done. Remarks made in the handbook should be gone to the countersigned regularly.
- Parents are requested to attend the parent’s teacher’s meeting in time, to collect the result and discuss the progress of their wards with the teacher’s concerned. On the result day of the student should have their Handbook with them. Attendance of students will be taken on the parents-teacher’s meeting day as it is considered a working day. Absentees will have to leave sanctioned from the Principal before the resumption of classes. Results will be given to only those who come with parents/guardians. Parents will not be permitted to take the corrected answers scripts home any clarification the results must be done before they leave the school on the parent teacher meeting day.
- It is impossible to educate the child without good example and co-operation of the parents/guardians with the principle and the staff. A parents/guardian must respect the principal and staff all the time. Parents/guardians shall not critise the principal/staff in front of children. It does more harm to children than to staff. Any complain with regard to educational matters or any other suggestion for improvement shall be made to the principle in the office or in writing.
- Since absence from classes will hamper your child’s progress in studies, you should take care not to request for leave without sufficient reason. Any leave of absence up to three days is to be sought from the principal through the student’s handbook and for more than three days a separate application is to be admitted within three days of such absence.
- Nobody is allowed to enter the class or staff room and meet the children or interview the teachers during school hours without the expressed permission of the principal.
- When corresponding with the school about your child you are requested to mention besides the name of the child, also the class and the section in which he/she is reading.
- The school authorities are not responsible for the safety of any pupil outside the school hours or outside school premises.
- Necessary arrangements must be made to take the children home immediately after the school hours.
- Private tuition hampers the real progress of the students. Therefore it is essential that we avoid tuitions. No tuitions should be arrange with our teachers for the purpose.
- Parents are requested to be available for discussion in the school regarding the progress/conduct of your child should the principal deem it necessary.
- Since the medium of instruction is English, Parents are interested to encourage their children to read at home English journals and converse in English as well.
- Parents are to signed an undertaking at the time of admission that they are prepared to abide by the rules and regulations of the school and withdraw their children, should the school authorities fell that their continuance is detrimental to the achievement of the adjectives of the school.
- The decision of the management on all matters regarding the school shall be binding and cannot be challenged in any court of law.
- The school will not be responsible for any accident to pupil during school hours or picnics or excursions.
EXAMINATION AND PROMOTION:
- The progress of the students is determined by means of Regular tests and terminal examinations. A regular record (Progress Card) showing the result of these test and examination together with the statement regarding the conduct and progress of each students will be given to the parents at the end of each examination. Reason for absence from an examination or test should be intimated to the Principal through the class teacher without delay. It should be certified by the parent. In case of illness a medical certificate should be produced when required by the principal.
- Promotion depends on the student’s performance in the Tests, and the Half Yearly and the annual Examination and on the assessment of other works and activities allotted to him/her throughout the year. At the final weight of the score every students is required to obtain 40'/. Of marks in all subjects, individually.
- Besides, a minimum attendance of 75'/. Is required for promotion.
- Results declared at the end of the year are final in all cases and will not be reconsidered. The results published cannot be challenge in any court of law.
- In all matters connected with the admission/examination promotion of students the decision of the management is final and binding.
- Student’s who resorts to malpractice (even if detected later) will be debarred from the rest of the examinations. This may even lead to the dismissal of the students from the school.
- Students absenting themselves from any examination or test will not be re-examined.
- No student’s who fails twice in the same class will be allowed to continue in the school.
- Students will not be allowed to take the annual examination unless all the dues are cleared for the year.
- A students failing in one’s class does not remain on the roll unless the parents/guardian inform writing to the principal before the re-opening that the students wishes to continue in the school.
- Cases of failures will not be considered and final exam. Papers will not be shown to any parents.
SCHOOL UNIFORM:
- On all class days and the school function, children are expected to wear the uniform prescribe for the season.
UNIFORM FOR BOYS:
- Cream colour shirt and coffee colour pants.
- Black shoes (without heels) and White socks.
- Red Belt.
- Red Sweater (Post Box Red) in winter or Maroon colour Blazers.
- Coffee colour tie.
UNIFORM FOR GIRLS:
- Cream colour shirts.
- Coffee colour ‘V’ neck tunic.
- Red belt.
- Black shoes (without heels) and white socks.
- Red sweater (post box red) in winter.(‘V’ neck) or maroon Colour Blazer.
- Coffee Colour Tie.
FRIDAY UNIFORM:
- Boys: white pants and printed ‘T’ Shirt.
- Girls: White skirt and printed ‘T’ Shirt.
WEDNESDAY AND SATURDAY UNIFORM.
- Boys: White pants printed house coloured ‘T’ shirt.
- Girls: white skirt and printed House colour ‘T’ shirt.
All should wear white shoes and socks. Designs (colour) on white canvas shoes will not be permitted.
Students and parents will see that at all times they conform to the rules regarding modesty in dress.
